Dear Neighbours and Friends,

I'm Sue Sherban, and I am asking for your continued support to serve as Councillor for Ward 6 and the residents of Whitchurch-Stouffville. I have lived in Ward 6 for over 50 years, raised my three daughters here and am now watching seven wonderful grandchildren grow up in this community. My connection to Whitchurch-Stouffville is deeply personal. Serving you isn't just a role I fill; it is a lifelong passion to make a meaningful difference, no matter how big or small.

Over the past eight years as your Ward 6 Councillor, my guiding principle has remained constant: Building an Inclusive Community. Whether chairing the Stouffville Village Advisory Committee and the Whitchurch-Stouffville Strawberry Festival, supporting 19 on the Park theatre and Live on Main at the new urban plaza, or serving on the Rouge National Urban Park Advisory Committee, my focus is always on bringing people together and keeping our town healthy and vibrant.

Looking ahead, we face pivotal opportunities and choices. Here is where my commitment to you stands firm. I am fiercely committed to bringing new commercial tax revenue and high-quality local jobs to Whitchurch-Stouffville without sacrificing the natural environment that makes our home special. I will always champion greening strategies and climate resilience at the council table, and I will continue to defend our Greenbelt and green spaces against overdevelopment. I will keep pushing for development that fits the size and scale of our existing neighbourhoods, safer streets for families and kids, and a Main Street that supports local businesses instead of disrupting them. And I will continue advocating for realistic, affordable housing options, well-maintained parks and recreation facilities, and expanded local arts, youth programs, and community spaces.

Having worn many hats in service to our town, including my earlier time on council and as Mayor, I bring both experienced perspective and energy for the work ahead.

Above all, my priority is accessibility and honesty. Whether at a local event, through my regular social media updates, or via email and phone, I make it a point to respond to inquiries within 24 hours. You may not always hear the exact answer you were hoping for, but you will always get complete transparency and total honesty from me.

A track record of delivering results

My start in politics was as a grassroots advocate fighting for a local indoor pool, and we got it built during my first term. Since then I've served as your Ward 6 Councillor (1997-2003 and 2018-present) and as Mayor of Whitchurch-Stouffville (2003-2006), including on Regional Council.

Preserving our heritage: I fought to save the historic old town hall. Today it's the vibrant cultural hub we know as 19 on the Park.

Community champion: I'm the current Chair of the Stouffville Strawberry Festival and have been on its committee for over 18 years. It's honestly one of my favourite things about this town.

Civic engagement: Between town halls, committee work, and a very active social-media presence (#inthesix!), I do my best to keep everyone in the loop on the issues that matter.

Dedicated to Ward 6

Ward 6 is home to more than 7,900 residents, one of our town's largest and most diverse wards. Representing it well takes experience, real listening, and a willingness to speak up, and I'm known for doing exactly that. My door stays open, I'll always hold a town hall, and I'll make sure every resident feels informed and heard.
